Designing better systems to communicate
My Double Diamond Design Process starts by running continual observational studies with qualitative surveys and interviews and analysing the user experience. This step involves discovering customer pain points and learning customer needs and goals.
Designing better systems to communicate
From the discovery step, we identify the genuine problems that customers face and map out their experiences into clear and concise documentation that defines the actual pain points the customer is facing. From here, I can get a complete picture of our customer's pains, needs and goals. With the complete picture will be ready to move into a collaborative approach involving various stakeholders.
Designing better systems to communicate
Then I move into the collaborative evaluation step with critical stakeholders across the business. We, as a team, evaluate the customer's pains, needs and goals, balancing them with user experience, technical capabilities, and business resources. At the end of this process, we have problems that we can solve for our customers.
Designing better systems to communicate
Then I move into collaborative problem-solving, working with a cross-functional team to create new solutions that address user needs. This process is all about generating as many solutions and ideas that can be tested.
Designing better systems to communicate
When I have gathered enough solutions, I can start planning and then set methods of measuring success. Once planning has been completed, I will collaborate with the team to evaluate the ideas. Are these solutions technically feasible, and do we have the resources to commit to these solutions, when we resolve this decision, we will have a solution to work with where we'll take it into the next step of this process.
Designing better systems to communicate
With the plan and the success measuring method in place, I start with fast testing methods to qualify the solution for prototyping and further development. I will run a testing sprint to create many activities and workshops to get feedback quickly so we can move within an agile team and pivot faster.
Description
At this point, we would have tested this solution and measured its success, and we are sure that it is worth moving into prototyping and bringing this in front of our customers. We will take our mid to high-fidelity prototypes and run user testing to further qualifier the design. Then we will adjust the design and iterate before we move to the final step and push it forward towards development.
Designing better systems to communicate
Within the development step, I will put together design documentation on the problem we are addressing, the solution we're using to address the problem and the testing that we conducted to evaluate the solution. In addition, I supply design material and documentation for developer handoff, and we provide ongoing support and the development process.
